Your vision and the quality of your life are important to us, even if we’re not the ones who are able to provide it. So we’ve compiled a list of several resources and organizations to get you exactly the help you need. These groups have been helping impaired Floridians for years, and they can help you, too.

Browse through and find out which of these agencies or organizations can best help you.

  • Braille International, Inc – Founded in 1978, Braille International first took shape experimenting with braille printers under its parent company, Triformation Systems. The following year, they began printing braille books for the National Library Service for the Blind and Visually Handicapped.  Today they are a nonprofit organization, producing a huge variety of braille material from books the ballots.
  • Center for the Visually Impaired – With 4 locations across Florida, the Center for the Visually Impaired exists to help blind and visually handicapped individuals reach their highest potential in every sphere of life. To this end, they’ve developed a network of services, including support, practical experience, and quality education. A private nonprofit agency, the Center for the Visually Impaired has been assisting Floridians since 1988.
  • Conklin Center for the Blind – A comprehensive agency, the Conklin Center for the Blind exists specifically to assist blind and visually impaired individuals who have one or more other disabilities as well. The Conklin Center strives to reduce the patient’s dependence on homebound or institutional care, assisting individuals into independent and productive lives. They also serve infants, toddlers, and children.
  • Florida Alliance for Assistive Services and Technology – Known as FAAST, the Florida Alliance for Assistive Services and Technology strives to raise awareness for the benefits of technology and assistive services that aid the visually impaired. Thousands of people all across Florida have used FAAST’s services, and so can you. They have a wide range of programs, including technology demonstrations, financing for technology purchases, affordable accessible housing, and community outreach to rural areas.
  • Florida Center for the Blind – For the blind, everyday activities and routine chores can be frustrating trails. The Florida Center for the Blind, a nonprofit organization, offers classes to help the blind cope with daily life, vocational rehabilitation, and the transition from sight to blindness. The Center also offers counseling services and connecting individuals to other services available to them. They have offices all over Florida in 8 counties.
  • Lighthouse Central Florida – Blindness does not mean the end of life. Founded in 1976, Lighthouse Central Florida offers skills training to help the blind live independently, improving or maintaining their quality of life. Over the course of 35 years, Lighthouse Central Florida has helped over 100,000 people get there. With years of experience, sound curricula, and certified instructors, they can help your loved one get there, too.
