Meet The Boss
Meet Rodger Stephan, our founder. He graduated from the Business School of the University of South Florida with a major in Marketing. Through personal networking and friendships, he found out about the field of low vision. Though marketing professionals are usually more likely to seek out higher-profile industries, Rodger was intrigued by the opportunity to help this relatively small, specialized community. As soon as he could find an opening, he was interviewed and quickly given a distributorship. He’s been at it since 1997, when he first started RWS Low Vision Services. He’s received various sales awards, and has built RWS Low Vision Services into one of Florida’s premier Low Vision companies. Today he strives to fulfill his original goal of serving the visually impaired in the Tampa area. Rodger considers it a joy to serve you and your loved ones with customized, specific care.

RWS Low Vision Services considers it a joy to serve each and every patient, improving quality of life and visual functionality. And though we started helping the disabled of metropolitan Tampa, we’ve grown, broadening our reach to serve those we previously could not. Today we’re able to provide for a huge radius, including the following counties: Hillsborough, Pinellas, Polk, Pasco, Hernando, Citrus, Manatee, Hardee, Highlands, Sumter, Sarasota, Desoto, Charlotte, Glades, Lee, Hendry, Collier, and Monroe.
If you live outside this area, please still give us a call. We will very likely be able to help regardless, and if we cannot, we can definitely connect you with a provider in your more immediate area, or one more specialized to your specific need. It’s about helping each patient, no matter the distance, even if we’re not the ones helping.

Rodger Stephan founded RWS Low Vision Services in 1997 with a single, simple goal: to serve the need of the visually impaired in the Tampa Bay area. We’ve stuck to it ever since, providing you with the latest technology, the most personal service and the clearest education we can. Our vision is to make sure your vision is as strong and as clear as medically possible, and we’ll do everything we can, we’ll search out every option and we’ll stay up-to-date on every new solution to ensure that happens.

Though we’ve spent the last 15 years chiefly helping thousands of visually impaired individuals achieve independence with the use of video magnification, we’ve also worked closely with several key organizations to provide the most care for the most people. Where solutions exist that can assist a large number of individuals, we’ve partnered with the Division of Blind Services, the Lighthouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired, and even the Florida state school system, so children suffering from low vision since birth will be able to learn virtually unhindered by their disability and grow up to be productive, independent citizens. It’s all about helping the most people however we can, individually or corporately.
